Standby Energy Saver, a prototype developed by a group of four CER students, Chen Zhangxiang, Joanna Chew Yujiao, Sandra Elizabeth Lee and Tam Zhi Cong, won the Third Prize, $1000, in the University/Polytechnic category of the National Climate Change Competition 2011. The competition is about coming up with a proposal and prototype to promote the awareness of climate change among students and to involve students in caring for the environment by showing how individual actions can affect the climate and the environment. Beginning in June 2011, the students were subjected through 3 rounds of assessments by renowned judges from both public and private sectors.
